Seriously...A band name is a band name is band name.
None are any more pretentious than the others.
Remember the bands of our youth - Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Whole, STP, Weezer, Radiohead, Blur, Oasis. All just as pretentious as ELBOW.
Not pretentious, just an odd name for a band. They remind me of Doves in many ways, which is part of the draw for you, I presume. GREAT song.
