Oscar Got It Right

Best Supporting Actor in 1990
Joe Pesci in Goodfellas
Goodfellas (A+) is one of my very favorite films filled with Martin Scorsese’s spectacular camera moves, breakneck editing, and the typical great Robert De Niro performance. It also features career-best work from Ray Liotta, Lorraine Bracco, Paul Sorvino, and (of course) Joe Pesci (as Tommy). Somehow, with everything else that’s going on, Pesci’s relaxed style makes it difficult to concentrate on anything else. No one else has ever been captured on film telling stories as well. He’s alternately comfortably hilarious and shockingly violent.
