nice hitchens article. did you note that he actually sites a character in the left behind series? and help us all when christopher hitchens determines to write an article on the same subject you've written one (even if it is on a pop culture blog).
Even for a film geek like myself, L'Avventura is a butt-numbing experience. It's beautiful but agonizingly slow. Blow-up is a great, great film, though.
Bergman is great but a bit overpraised, methinks. Persona, The Seventh Seal, and Wild Strawberries are required viewing.
Hitchens as a writer is like Michael Jordan as a basketball player. We can all shoot baskets, but none of us can come close to Jordan. I have read several profiles of Hitchens, and he has said he writes most of his book reviews in a single draft.
