I have that picture on my ceiling.
So you took down the Munich stills?
By the way, I'm preparing my Serious Man B+ rebuttal. May need a second viewing tonight.
No, just added to them along with a picture of him kickboxing from The Castle.
I wouldn't sit through ASM again if you paid me. Finally, something you and Jeff Wells agree on.
I'll send you Ke$ha's new album if you watch A Serious Man again.
on a serious man, i think i get every inch of that movie, i just can't figure out what makes it interesting. are there funny moments? sure. the coens do funny in serious movies better than nearly anyone. and there's some nice realism. but the statements it's making about god and religion, i mean that was cutting edge 150 years ago when the sociology of religion was just getting going. so, why do i need a hopelessly dreary movie to tell it to me again? i don't. the whole thing just has this self-congratulatory feel to it, i just can't get excited about it.
But set against the backdrop of 1967 during the sexual revolution and women's liberation and just before the "summer of love", the Coens' philosophy about religion and its diminishing influence on America is strengthened.
I found a few hopeful things in ASM and didn't find it dreary at all. But it is a tad self-congratulatory.
