Best Magazine Ever

This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly is a must for anyone that finds this blog remotely interesting. They rank the 'new classics' in TV, Movies, Books and Music, considering only the last 25 years. A great issue....forthcoming is a critique of the TV, Movies and Music list. Go buy it and enjoy.

The top lists are all on EW's website here: http://www.ew.com/ew/package/0,,20207076,00.html
I almost posted a link yesterday after reading through the write-ups on the movies, which has a number of obvious weaknesses (private ryan over schindler?), but got the number one movie right.
The album list is even more debatable (In Rainbows over OK Computer?), but, admittedly, also much more difficult. how many movies get released every year vs. how many albums? still, great fun to read lists that speak directly to our collective memory banks?

Baywatch is probably not better than Moonlighting. Napoleon Dynamite is probably not better than Full Metal Jacket. And Mariah Carey is probably not better than Bob Dylan, Joshua Tree, OK Computer, or Pearl Jam.

Good luck finishing some sort of commentary. I didn't write anything because I could bitch about these lists for the next 25 years. For starters, my personal top 100 movies have 66 (count 'em!) different.
