On DVD (2010). Rated R, 100 minutes. Trailer.
What a waste. Knowing that Joaquin Phoenix' foray into rap and supposed mental breakdown on the Late Show with David Letterman were fake renders the film impossible to watch in earnest. Shot and directed by Joaquin's brother-in-law Casey Affleck, the film is trying to be a study of celebrity culture and a weird person, but morphs into a weird series of shots of guys crapping on each other, getting berated by Phoenix and flaccid male appendages. Hopefully that sentence will never be written again. Some of the scenes with Puff Daddy are funny as he rejects Joaquin's weird music. A stupid project and a screwy film - if it had been real, it might have worked.
