I like that idea - much more to talk about and lets lesser known, better quality films in.
ReplyDeleteSaw Away We Go last weekend, haven't been able to stop drafting Opinion Letters for long enough to write a review. Its a C+, big disappointment. Some good moments (infertility vignette in Montreal), but overall it is contrived, unrealistic and has massive and bizarre tonal shifts that don't work. Whereas Juno (obviously an influence on the film) melded the funny/serious vibe, this one seems chopped up from 3 different movies. And Maya didn't pull it off - she was the center of the movie and had to sell several stretchy points (not wanting to get married, for example). Krasinski is fine in a one-dimensional role.
ReplyDeleteIm sorry to hear that Maya didn't do well. I root for her but ive never been impressed except on snl. In particular I was disappointed with her in prarie home companion, a film I liked a lot
