Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show - B

30 Days & 30 Nights – Hollywood to the Heartland
On DVD

Vince Vaughn takes 4 little-known comics (Ahmed Ahmed, John Caparulo, Bret Ernst, and Sebastian Maniscalco) around the U.S. for a 30 day-30 city tour. The comics’ material is humorous if not hilarious and the forays into gravitas usually hit their mark (the tour took place during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita). The film is surprisingly successful dealing with the comics’ past and how it shapes their material (many family members are shown). Most touching is Maniscalco’s desire to ditch his waiter day job. To Vaughn’s credit, he could cash in huge paycheck after paycheck without spending 30 days and nights on a bus. You have to respect the guy for using his clout to help some struggling comics. Never mind the fact that his routines with Jon Favreau, Justin Long, and Peter Billingsley are funny in their own right. B
